Just Another Day in the Neighborhood
Size: 40'' x 67''
This home in my neighborhood is mostly hidden. Untrimmed trees and a wild tangle of shrubs keep the house mostly in shadows.
What’s visible reveals a person who finds it meaningful to adorn his compound with a pirate’s skull-and-crossed-swords flag and a variety of signs and flags from the Confederate Army.
Symbols of intimidation and defiance poke through the overgrown vegetation.
"I am struck by the tribalism and territoriality conveyed; even more, I am saddened that it is quite common."
